The Bone and Joint Surgery Clinic encourages all of their patients to be active to help maintain strong muscles and healthy bones. Calcium is a mineral that people need to build and maintain strong bones throughout their lives. It is also very important for other physical functions, such as muscle control and blood circulation. Our bodies are unable to manufacture it so calcium must be absorbed from the foods we eat and to effectively absorb it from food, our bodies also need Vitamin D.
